Just quick on other… road is old railroad bed before entire area flooded out with dam built at Baileyville, ME 1930’s. At one time was Schoodic River running through Princeton, ME. Now St Croy Flowage, can easily be seen from Google Earth Birdseye. RR crossing now underwater, old photo of last train next to River. Sunken dam also on original river (Birdseye), hard to see but underwater on original Schoodic from century back.

Neat, those old railroad right of ways make good walking paths as long as they don’t cross private property.

 

Forgot to mention the gates were opened at Baileyville and flowage was way low, usually 20’ underwater. Map shows aerial clearly, curved outline between land juts.
